Northfield Legion Tops Chanhassen 7-5
The River Rats will face either Burnsville or Lakeville North on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
The Northfield American Legion baseball team defeated Chanhassen 7-5 on Friday to stay alive in the District 3 tournament.
Northfield’s victory sends them on to face either Burnsville or Lakeville North on Saturday at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville. With two more wins, Northfield would become one of the district’s three teams at next week’s state tournament.
Northfield, the tournament’s seventh seed, beat Waconia 14-4 to begin the tournament. The River Rats lost to Eastview on Thursday 13-2, but rebounded with the win over Chanhassen on Friday.

Burnsville is the district’s top seed, while Lakeville North is the 13th seed and is unbeaten so far in this year’s tournament. North beat Lakeville South in Monday’s play-in game 12-0, then beat Chanhassen 10-0 and Eagan 10-5. South and Burnsville will play at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
