Northfield Rollover Crash Left Man, 20, Unconscious In Field
The crash injured three people, including a Cannon Falls man who was ejected from the vehicle and found unconscious in a field.
NORTHFIELD, MN — Three people were injured in a rollover crash in Northfield last week. On June 3, at 2:30 a.m., Rice County Deputies, Northfield Fire/Rescue and Northfield Ambulance were dispatch to a single vehicle rollover. There were three occupants in the 2014 Ford Focus, according to the Rice County Sheriff's Office. The driver, Kaleb Meyers, 22, of Hastings, had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The front seat passenger, Dustin McElmury Schultz, 19, of Hampton, was transported with Meyers to Regions Hospital in Saint Paul by ground ambulance. The third occupant, Derek Gallegos Staley, 20, of Cannon Falls was ejected from the vehicle and found unconscious in a field. He was airlifted from the scene to the Hennepin County Medical Center, according to a news release.
The vehicle had been northbound on Lamb Avenue and entering curve onto Kane Trail when the vehicle entered the ditch and rolled over several times. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to reconstruct the crash scene.

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the Rice County Sheriff’s Office. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol.
