Northfield’s Temperature Breaks 90 Degrees
The average temperature for this time of the year is about 70 degrees. Two weeks ago, the city received six inches of snow.

What a difference a couple of weeks make.
On May 2, Northfield street crews were plowing six inches of heavy, wet snow from Division Street.
On May 14, children were sitting in front of Hogan Brothers on Division Street quickly eating ice cream cones before they melted.

At 3 p.m. Tuesday, the temperature on the First National Bank of Northfield’s clock at the corner of Division and Fourth streets read 92 degrees.
The National Weather Service’s forecast for Tuesday afternoon came to fruition. The temperatures in Northfield and much of southeastern Minnesota would exceed 90 degrees.

The official weather service reading for the city at 3:15 p.m. was 94.

The weather service says Northfield could reach a high of 95 yet this afternoon. The overnight low is expected to fall to 55.
The hot weather isn’t expected to last long, however. Wednesday’s high is expected to reach “just” 75.
The average high temperature for the Twin Cities on May 14 is 69.
