UPDATE: Northifeld's Canedy Pair Remain Alive At State Wrestling Meet
Logan Canedy faces four-time champion Destin McCauley in the state semifinals Saturday.
Both Northfield High School wrestlers remained alive after Friday’s Class AAA state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center, one doing so in dramatic fashion.
Freshman Carson Canedy (119 pounds) bounced back from a first round defeat against St. Michael-Albertville’s Mark Voss by nipping Robbinsdale Cooper’s Sami Abdisa in triple overtime. Canedy defeated Abdisa 5-4, ensuring he would advance to Saturday’s consolation quarterfinal at 10 a.m. He faces Brainerd/Pillager’s Dan Babineau.
Meanwhile, senior Logan Canedy (152 pounds) rolled through the first two rounds by defeating Andover’s Cory Parsons and Hopkins’ Romar Daniel. He will face four-time state champion Destin McCauley of Apple Valley in Saturday’s championship semifinals, with the winner advancing to the state title match. Logan Canedy faces McCauley at 11:15 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul.
