Northfield Girl Scouts Celebrate Successes, Bridge to Future
Troops from the Girl Scouts' Northfield Service Unit gathered for the annual Court of Awards and Bridging Ceremony at Northfield High School Tuesday night.
Northfield Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors gathered Tuesday night for the Girls Scouts' annual Court of Awards and Bridging Ceremony at the Northfield High School auditorium.
The ceremony—attended by scouts, troop leaders and volunteers, and families—served a dual purpose: To celebrate a year's worth of accomplishments and to propel many of the Girl Scouts toward new membership levels.
For instance, Daisies in first grade literally bridged—by walking over a garden-style wooden bridge—to Brownies, third-grade Brownies bridged to juniors and fifth-grade Juniors bridged to Cadettes.

A number of the Girl Scout troops reviewed their activities over the past year, which for many of the girls included taking part in last fall's Centennial Day of Service. On that day, Girl Scouts raked leaves and cleared storm basins around Northfield.
The audience also heard from Alexa Nutt, a Northfield Ambassador scout and Gold Award recipient who worked at a school in Africa. She continues to gather books to help establish a library in the school.

The Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
The evening ended with a reception featuring, of course, a variety of Girl Scout cookies.
