Pair Selected as Finalists for Public Works Director/City Engineer Position
Joseph Stapf and David Stoliker are candidates for the job vacated by Katy Gehler early this summer.

Northfield is one step closer to hiring a new public works director/city engineer.
On Wednesday, City Administrator Tim Madigan announced two finalists for the vacant job: Joseph Stapf and David Stoliker.
Stapf has been director of environmental services for Hernando County, FL – on Florida’s gulf coast just north of the Tampa/St. Petersburg metropolitan area – since last October. His work experience includes a 17-year stint as director of utilities for the city of Wyoming, MI.

Staph earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1973 and his master’s degree in public administration from Western Michigan University in 1987.
Stoliker, who has more than 30 years of experience dealing with public works, recently retired after working 14 years as executive director/engineer of the Southern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority in Rio Rancho, NM. That entity manages storm water control facilities on streams and in watersheds.

Stoliker has a civil/environmental engineering degree from University of Michigan and advanced degrees from Washington State University and the University of New Mexico.
In his press release, Madigan did not provide a time table for when he plans to bring his choice for fill the job to the City Council for its approval.

Northfield has been without a permanent public works director/city engineer since Katy Gehler left that position earlier this summer. She worked for the city for five years.
