Part-Time Retail Position: Knitting Skills Required

RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the position include:

• Creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for our customers
• Helping customers select products
• Answering customer questions about knitting (and, if possible, crochet) techniques
• Answering customer questions about our products, classes, and other services
• Handling point-of-sale transactions Straightening up the shop, including light cleaning and dusting
• Performing other sales- or marketing-related activities as they arise
• Attending a monthly staff meeting

REQUIREMENTS: Success in the this position requires:

• Strong knitting skills
• A service-oriented manner and attitude
• A willingness to learn about fibers, techniques, and other topics customers ask about
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Being able to work independently
• Making good use of online resources, particularly Ravelry.com

The following experience is not a prerequisite, but would be considered an advantage:

• Teaching experience, particularly experience teaching knitting skills
• Retail experience, particularly experience with a computerized POS and inventory-management system

SCHEDULE: Around 12-25 hours per week, primarily covering weekday afternoons and possibly Sundays.

COMPENSATION: Pay is hourly at a rate to be determined. A generous employee discount is offered.
