Passenger, 18, Killed In Crash Near Rochester

Another teen and a 60-year-old were transported to St. Mary's Hospital.

OLMSTED COUNTY, MN — An 18-year-old passenger died Tuesday afternoon in a crash near Rochester. The fatal collision happened in Kalmar Township just before 4:30 p.m.

A 16-year-old was driving a Honda Accord south on County Road 3. The Minnesota State Patrol said the teen was attempting to cross Highway 14 when a Jeep Wrangler, headed eastbound on Highway 14, collided with the Honda at the intersection.

Michael O'Connor Hendrix, a passenger in the Honda, was killed.

The 16-year-old, whose identity was not released, was transported to St. Mary's Hospital. His condition was released to the public.

The Jeep driver — Scott Alan Gifford, 60, of Byron — was also transported to St. Mary's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
