PHOTOS: Curbs and Sidewalks Start Coming Up in Northfield Along Hwy. 246

Northfield Engineering Tech Sean Simonson said the goal is to have all work completed before Labor Day.

Work started this week on Hwy. 246 from Trunk Hwy. 3 to County State Aid Highway 1 in Northfield's city limits. In Northfield, Hwy. 246 is also known as Woodley Street from Hwy. 3 to Division Street, where Hwy. 246 turns south (near ).

In an email to Northfield Administrator Tim Madigan on Monday, Northfield Engineering Tech Sean Simonson said the goal is to have the area up to CSAH 1 paved before Labor Day.

"They will be working on curb and sidewalk removals, and installing new ADA accessible pedestrian ramps for the majority of the week," Simonson wrote. "They have backed up the milling and re-paving portion through town, that is not scheduled to start until on or around August 25."

The 12-mile Minnesota Department of Transportation project extends to Nerstand and carriest an estimated cost of $3.65 million. The entire project is expected to last about 10 weeks, according to MnDOT.
