PHOTOS: Northfield ALC Graduates 31 Students

Families and friends gathered Wednesday at Longfellow School to honor the class of 2011.

Wednesday marked the end of one journey and the beginning of another for the class of 2011.

Senior speaker Gloria Serrano shared a tearful address that illustrated the ALC's talent for reaching out to students and keeping them motivated.

"Teachers were always available to speak with me," she said, adding that she found their availability made a big difference in how she approached her studies.

Serrano moved from Los Angeles to Northfield to re-task herself and to ensure her child had a safe environment in which to grow up.

The ceremony began with Claudia Soto-Rangel singing and playing The Beates' "In My Life" on guitar.
