PHOTOS: Northfield Varsity Softball Loses 3-2 at Sections

The Raiders fell to the Farmington Tigers in a nail-biter.

A promising year for the Northfield varsity softball team fell short on Wednesday.

The Raiders lost 3-2 at Farmington in the first round of the Section 1AAA tournament, ending the season with a 10-11 record. The Raiders lost seven of their last eight games.

Despite the loss, players were in good spirits following the game thanks to some solid play.

Catcher Nicole Meyer was fast on her feet throughout the game and made key tags at home plate to keep the team alive during the third inning, right-fielder Katherine Arneson slid home off a single from Paige Selkirk and Kaitlyn Bicek was in good form on the mound, pitching six strong innings.
