Farm animals at the Great Rice County Fair did their best to beat the heat Thursday morning.
The animal barns may have been been the coolest place to be at the Rice County Fairgrounds in Faribault on Thursday morning.
Well, maybe except for the ice cream trucks.
Many of the animals on display at the 140th annual Great Rice County Fair were kept cool with overhead and box fans. The slight breeze blowing through the open barns also helped, too.
Fair-goers relied on more portable ways to beat Thursday morning's 80-plus degree heat, as many drank bottles of cold water and pop and ate ice cream cones.
The fair runs through Sunday at the fairgrounds, 1814 Second Ave. NW, Faribault.
