Red Wing Power Outages: Underground Fire To Blame
Traffic signals are not working at state highway intersections in Red Wing. Officials ask that motorists proceed with caution.

RED WING, MN — Much of Red Wing went dark Thursday morning when an underground fire caused power outages throughout the city. The blaze — which started to spread at about 11:40 a.m. — is now extinguished, but the damage "will take a while to repair," city officials said in a news release.
Xcel Energy estimates 4,856 customers in the city have been affected by the outage. Power is estimated to be restored at around 3 p.m.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports that traffic signals are not working at state highway intersections in Red Wing. Motorists should proceed with caution. Some temporary stop signs are going up.
