On Saturday, July 13 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm River Bend Nature Center will have an Animal Ambassadors Meet and Greet. The Meet and Greet will be an excellent chance for guests to meet and learn fun facts about Baskin and Robbins the Bearded Dragons, Maize the Corn Snake, Orwin the Painted Turtle and Potter the Hooded Rat. Each participant can get as close to the animals as they wish, petting, touching or maybe even holding one. After the Meet and Greet, those who are interested can travel on a naturalist guided walk to Turtle Pond in River Bend Nature Center to search for wild frogs and turtles.
This program will give basic information about the Ambassadors as each animal is individually shown off to the group. Since most of the Ambassadors aren’t native to Minnesota, participants will get a rare chance to touch a new, scalier side of nature. The naturalist guided walk to Turtle Pond will teach those who come along the best ways to spot turtles and frogs for themselves whenever they visit River Bend Nature Center in the future.
This program is free for members, $2/individual and $6/family for non-members. All ages are welcome. This program will take place mostly indoors except for the guided walk to Turtle Pond after meeting the Animal Ambassadors.
