Section of Division Street Temporarily Closed Tuesday

TJ Heinricy, Northfield's streets and parks supervisor, said part of the 600 block of Division Street will close for a few hours on Tuesday to investigate .

The hole, which was several feet deep, forced the city to close the section of the street in from of for a few hours on Saturday as Heinricy and others made a temporary fix and filled the hole with dirt to allow traffic to pass through for the time being.

The goal on Tuesday, he said, would be to try to determine the reason behind the collapse, which City Administrator Tim Madigan over the week said was believed to be related to storm water pipe issues beneath the road.

Heinricy also said that witnesses on Saturday said the road buckled after National Guard vehicles drove over the area in question.
