Semi Crashes Into Elementary School In Southern Minnesota
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash Tuesday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

LYLE, MN — Elementary students were discussing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day when a truck crashed through the school wall Tuesday morning. Authorities say a Chevrolet Malibu was slowing down to make a left turn on a nearby road when a semi rear-ended the Malibu. After the collision, the semi continued traveling across the icy northbound lane, driving through a ditch before slamming into Lyle Public School, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Both drivers were unhurt, but the passenger in the Malibu suffered a minor injury and was transported to the hospital. Two students suffered minor injuries.
“We were talking about Martin Luther King Jr. Day and all of a sudden we just heard this crash,” fourth-grader Jake Woyen told the Star Tribune. “It was scary.”

The school was evacuated and the children had to run into a nearby building in below-zero weather without coats on, Jake's mother told the newspaper.
Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, according to authorities. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigation the crash.
