Special Events Abound: Vintage Band Festival Day 3

Saturday means music, special events and more music in and around Northfield.

The first two days of the Vintage Band Festival in Northfield featured music, music and more music.

On Saturday, the schedule has changed a bit. Now, it’s music, special events and music.

Here is a list of the events planned:

• Battle of the Bands, 12-12:50 on the downtown Northfield Riverwalk—Six of the festival’s Civil War-era bands will be stationed along the Cannon River.
Civil War Bands Massed Concert, 1-1:50 p.m., Fourth Street Bridge—Participants of the Battle of the Bands will join and be conducted by bandleader Paul Maybery.
Vintage Base Ball Game, 1:30-2:30 p.m., St. Olaf Old Main Field—TheNew Prague Area Community Band will provide music.

• Civil War Memorial Sunset Concert: 26th North Carolina , 6-7 p.m., Northfield Cemetery

Cotillion Grand Ball, 8-10:30 p.m., Northfield Armory—Music will be provided by the Dodworth Saxhorn Band.

USEFUL INFORMATION

WHAT IS THE VINTAGE BAND FESTIVAL—The Vintage Band Festival is a four-day international music event that celebrates the music and the instruments of past eras. More than 30 bands from across Minnesota and around the world will perform roughly 100 concerts at venues in and around Northfield.

ADMISSION—Admission to the concerts will be free, but donations will be accepted to offset expenses. Tickets for several special events—Lunch, Listen and Learn events at the Contented Cow through Saturday, German Food and Music at the Northfield Senior Center on Aug. 4, 19th Century Cotillion Ball at the Northfield Armory on Aug. 3 and the Vaudeville Entertainment and Silent Moving Pictures show on Aug. 4—are available at the festival headquarters in Bridge Square.
