The Y’s executive director, Virginia Kaczmarek, posted the following message on the Northfield Y's Facebook page on Saturday morning:

The Y Kids Tri has been cancelled for Saturday morning due to heavy rains (and thunder/lightening).
HOWEVER – our extremely motivated group of volunteers will be offering a modified program Sunday morning (July 14th). Join us tomorrow morning, 9:00 am at Memorial Park for a SWIM & RUN event. Check-in at 8:00 am This is an opportunity for youth to participate in a modified program, pick up their t-shirts, cross the finish line and receive their medal for accomplishing the swim and run portion of the triathlon. We’ll also have the inflated bouncy jumper. We have a morning of encouragement, cheers and satisfaction of completing the swim and run portion of the event. We’ll have cowbells available for cheering!Reminder: Bikes will not be a part of this event - sorry, but leave the bikes at home tomorrow.
VOLUNTEERS: All volunteers who were planning to participate at today’s event – if you are available tomorrow morning, we would love your support.

Last year, more than 200 youngsters participated in the Y Kids Tri.
