Faribault Memorial Tree Vandalized
Police say vandals have been cutting down trees, including a memorial tree planted in memory of Faribault student Nicholas Paulson.
FARIBAULT, MN — Faribault police have identified three suspects they believe were involved in cutting down trees at the Faribault Soccer Complex and Faribault High School. Working with officials with the Faribault Public Schools and the Faribault Parks and Recreation Department, Faribault detectives identified three adult males they say were responsible for cutting down trees at Faribault High School and the Faribault Soccer Complex, including a memorial tree planted in memory of Faribault student Nicholas Paulson.
The suspects, two 19-year-old males and an 18 year old male, live in and around the Faribault
area. Police Chief Andy Bohlen commented, “I’m pleased to see those responsible for this senseless
act of vandalism have been identified. Any crime reported to our agency is taken seriously, and
our detectives worked diligently to identify the suspects and solve this crime to help put the
Paulson family’s mind at ease.”

Police will be presenting the case to the Rice County Attorney’s Office for review of criminal charges likely to include 1st Degree Criminal Damage to Property, a felony level offense, according to a news release.
