This hasn't been a banner season for Old Man Winter.

Mild has been the buzzword for the past three months and the warmer-than-average temperature has wreaked havoc on outdoor skating advocates. Northfield has had a few stretches where ice survived with cooler temperatures, but, for the most part, the last few months have been a loss.

So for those longing to glide across a sheet of ice, we turn back the clock and take a look at a video Northfield Patch made last year that highlighted how the department goes about creating ice at parks across the city.
