Each year, St. Olaf College senior dance majors spend their fall semester developing individual works for a large-scale, self-produced concert. On Dec. 11 and 12 at St. Olaf, dance majors will present what words can/not: A Senior Dance Concert.
Free and open to the public, what words can/not is sure to connect to a wide range of audience members with works exploring topics like dance therapy, faith, figure skating, grief, self-recognition, and vulnerability.
While the seniors’ interests and experiences vary, they also tend to overlap. This year’s theme represents their collective journey in the St. Olaf dance department.

“As dancers, we believe that movement articulates what words cannot. Together, words and movement shape each other’s meaning to create a multidimensional form of communication,” the seniors said. “For us, this title embodies the collaboration between words and movement.”
