Who Wants to Join the Northfield City Council?

The Northfield City Council is now taking applications to fill a vacancy created by Councilor Kris Vohs' resignation, who leaves the council at the end of the year.

So, you want your voice heard on city matters? Here's your chance.

The Northfield City Council is now taking applications to fill a vacancy created by Councilor Kris Vohs' resignation, who leaves the Council at the end of the year.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 29. If appointed, you serve from Jan. 1, 2012 through Dec. 31, 2012. The at-large council seat is part of the 2012 election.

Applicants must confirm that they are qualified for appointment by meeting the requirements:

  • The applicant is a resident of Northfield,
  • Is qualified to vote in Northfield,
  • Is at least 21 years of age, and
  • Meets any other qualifications for the office prescribed by law.

Applicants will be asked to state:

  • Why they are interested in the appointment;
  • Their education, training and/or experience that is relevant to the appointment;
  • Indicate their availability for an interview by the Council on either December 5 or 12, 2011.

The Council reserves the right to request further information from applicants, to reopen the application process, and to extend the time for a decision.
