Wild: Driverless Motorcycle Hits Harley After Deer Collision
Non-life threatening injuries occurred in a wild crash that took place in Southern Minnesota Sunday outside Mankato.
BLUE EARTH COUNTY, MN – Non-life threatening injuries occurred in a wild crash that took place in Southern Minnesota Sunday. A 2011 Yamaha motorcycle was eastbound on Highway 68 just after 10 p.m., west of 518th Avenue in Blue Earth County when it collided with a deer. Post collision, the motorcycle and operator separated.
The downed Yamaha motorcycle then collided with an also eastbound 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle causing injury to the operator, according to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP).
Yamaha driver Adam De Leon, 35, of North Mankato was wearing his helmet during the crash, MSP reported. Authorities say Harley Davidson driver John Thomas Schaefer, 47, of New Ulm, was not. Both were hospitalized at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato for non-life threatening injuries.

The Mankato Free Press confirmed the animal involved in the crash was a deer.
