Community Corner

The YMCA being built in Northfield, HoneyLocust Dr, pepper ridge Ln & Jefferson

Well our neighborhood thought it would be great to have this so lose but we all didn't know that all the trees would be taken down between the homes & the land.  It is very loud also, but besides that, some children came off the bus very upset last week when they saw the trees coming down behind where the Y was going.  My son 10, came home that day screaming saying they are taking out the trees behind a few homes he knows will be affected.  I had to explain to him that the families can put new trees in the ground & someday they will get to be really big like the old ones were.  I knew though that the cost of the trees it's most likely going to be either forgot ton, or they will be really small.
He said to me maybe the YMCA can give the homeowners some trees to replant them on their property? I thought that was a great idea, so I told him that this Monday I will post this question & concern out & maybe just maybe we might get an answer.
He said lots of kids on the bus have to look at the tear down every day when they get dropped off at 3:30 on bus 21.  They are not really excited he said that the YMCA is doing this & coming.

As a parent who lives so close to this change happening to Northfield & our neighborhood with several kids with questions that I can't answer can you help me give them something positive to look forward too?

Thank you very much
