Outdoor Zumbathon! Raises Money for Youth Sports Scholarships
Instructors and participants worked out for 90 minutes Saturday morning at Central Park. Hundreds of dollars were raised for the Northfield Youth Sports Collaborative's scholarship fund.
It's not often that someone has to check the weather forecast before heading to Zumba class.
Fortunately for the dozen of folks who took part in the outdoor Zumbathon! at Northfield's Central Park Saturday morning, the weather was picture perfect for outdoor exercise.
The event, in which local Zumba instructors led residents through 90 minutes of dancing and exercise, raised money for the Northfield Youth Sports Collaborative’s scholarship fund.
NYSC, according to its website, “works to increase the involvement of Northfield youth in local sports associations and to overcome barriers that may prevent young people from participating.” Scholarships awarded by the collaborative allow low-income youngsters to participate in Northfield-area sports programs.
Saturday's event raised nearly $600, according to a report on KYMN Radio's website Tuesday morning.
Donations continue to be collected for the sports collaborative at NYSC's website.
