Authentic Philly Cheese Steak In A Minute!

If there is one thing I really know, it's my Philly Cheese Steak sandwich! You can make them all different ways, but an authentic Philly Cheese Steak sandwich stands on it's own merit! I will give you a recipe that is spot on to the real deal and you can really make it in no time. I hope you enjoy this sandwich as much as we do around here. Before I get started, I really want to explain to you that not all buns are created equal. I make my own buns but I would suggest a good bakery bun or Italian bread roll. It is not mandatory by any means, but it can really make a difference! This is pretty simple and straight forward to make and you can have it on the table in around 30 minutes or less.

Serves: 6 Cook Time: 20 Min

Ingredients

2 lb very thinly sliced deli roast beef or (Steak Umms) (rib eye is the original meat you would use, but to cut the expense I have suggested a couple of different meats.)
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3 Tbsp butter
1 bottle Italian dressing
1 whole white onion, havled and sliced thin
1 c sliced green pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 large container of Cheeze Whiz, heated in microwave to melt
OR~ 1 pound of provolone cheese, sliced, your preference
6 good quality sub buns

Butter buns and toast them under the broiler.

Chop up the roast beef pretty well. Drizzle a generous amount of Italian dressing on meat. Saute the roast beef, onions, garlic, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper and green peppers in the Italian dressing, butter and Worcestershire sauce until the onions are fairly soft and translucent.

Mound the beef mixture up onto the sub bun and drizzle with additional Italian dressing.

Top beef mixture with a ladle of heated Cheez Whiz  or slices of provolone cheese and melt them into beef. Cover the sub with top of sub bun and enjoy!

*** TIP: Have your beef shaved as thin as possible to ensure for tender meat in the sandwich.

*** TIP: Chop your beef after it is cooked as small as possible. Cheeze Whiz is the real deal for an authentic Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. The famous Geno's Philly Cheese Steak in Philadelphia uses it and so does Pat's.

*** TIP: If you feel like taking the time you can always caramelize your onions for even greater flavor!
