Best Bets of the Week for Families

ECFE Sock Hop 

• When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at .
• Why Go: This is a great opportunity to meet other families with young children. Get the wiggles out—bring the whole crew and enjoy some quality family time. 
• Geared Toward: Birth to 5-year-olds and their families.
• Pricing: $5 per person (includes a piece of pizza, fruit, a cookie and a beverage).

Tartan Band Concert

•  When/Where: Monday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at .
• Why Go: See what the Tartan High School Concert Band has been up to this year.  The concert also includes students from North High who will be going on a joint band trip with Tartan this year.
• Geared Toward:  Anyone who likes music!
• Pricing: Free but donations are accepted.

Happy Birthday Elmo!

•  When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at Borders – Woodbury location.
• Why Go: What toddler wouldn’t want to help celebrate Elmo’s birthday?  While Elmo won’t be there, the kiddos can make crafts, read stories and listen to music in honor of their favorite furry red Muppet.
• Geared Toward: 3- to 6-year-olds.
• Pricing: Free.

King Tut

•  When/Where: Now through Sept. 5 at the Science Museum of Minnesota.
• Why Go: More than 100 artifacts from ancient Egypt are on display.  Learn about life in ancient Egypt and the discovery of King Tut’s tomb.
• Geared Toward: school age and older.
• Pricing: varies – discounts offered for members, students and seniors.  See website for details.

 Plan Ahead: Maple Sugar Trip

•  When/Where: Saturday, March 26 from 1-4 p.m. at S & S Sugar Bush in Ellsworth, WI.
• Why Go: We know it’s a bit of a drive, but this event sponsored by the Maplewood Nature Center promises to be both fun and educational. Learn how maple syrup is made on a working farm.
• Geared Toward: The whole family.
• Pricing: $25 per family.
