'Memories of Lake Elmo' available May 1

"Memories of Lake Elmo," Gloria VanDemmeltraadt's history of the village/city of Lake Elmo as told in personal stories, coming May 1.

Local author, Gloria VanDemmeltraadt, announces as of May 1, her eagerly-awaited book, “Memories of Lake Elmo,” is now available.

The book, a detailed history of the village/city of Lake Elmo, MN, is told in personal stories gathered from more than 100 interviews of long-time residents of the area. Along with extensive research of historical documents, VanDemmeltraadt has built a delightful chronicle of this unique small town.

Several book launching activities are planned, where the book is available to purchase and the author will be present to speak about the book and sign personal copies.

These include: Saturday, May 11, from 10:30 to noon, and Tuesday, May 14, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at the Lake Elmo Library, 3537 Lake Elmo Avenue North. There is also a reception at Curves in Lake Elmo from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, for members and guests, and a private reception by invitation on May 6 for the individuals interviewed by VanDemmeltraadt, whose stories add to the book’s charm.

Books will be available through Valley Booksellers in Stillwater, Washington County Historical Society, Oakdale Lake Elmo Historical Society, Curves at Lake Elmo, and through the author at www.govand@comcast.net.
