Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. The Hay Lake School Museum, operated by the Washington County Historical Society will be holding our annual Hay Lake Day Celebration on Saturday, August 10th from noon until 4:00 PM. We are inviting the public to this free event to help WCHS commemorate the early pioneers of Washington County.  There will be Swedish and other traditional craft vendors giving demonstrations of their art, live music by the Scandia Community Band, a bake sale, food and drink for sale, a silent auction and free tours of both the school and the Johannes Erickson Log Home. One new element to this year's festivities is WCHS' second rummage sale!  Hay Lake School and the Johannes Erickson Log Home are on the National Register of Historic Places.
