Cooking with Wine Tips + 10% this week!

Cooking with Wine!

Wine is a great fat substitute when cooking, here are a few ways to add flavor to your dishes and maybe reduce your waistline during the upcoming holiday season.

~ Use 1/4 cup of wine to deglaze your skillet when sautéing veggies this will add incredible flavor and acidity without having to add salt and butter.
~ Marinate meats and hearty veggies like portabella mushrooms in ¼ cup of wine with seasonings and ¼ cup of extra virgin olive oil. The wine helps to tenderize meat and if marinating fish will help cut down cooking time.
~ If baking a cake, substitute ¾ cup of oil with ¾ cup of white or dessert wine in batter! Dessert hasn't been so yummy!

Few tips:
Remember to cook with wine that you would drink- the flavors really do come through!
If you are unsure what type of wine to buy, use wine that is from the same region your dish is. (Spaghetti = Chianti or Sangiovese)
