Tartan High School Fair Features Prom Fashions at a Fraction of the Price

Prom dresses are typically priced in the hundreds of dollars, but at the Prom Fair Saturday, they’ll be in the $10-$20 range.

The only hitch is “finding the cute one in the right size,” said advisor Jennifer Murphy.

Business students sent letters to about 400 recent graduates asking them if they would like to donate their prom dresses to the cause, and got a whole rack full in return.

Discount dresses won't be the fair's the only offerings. Attendees will be able to get inside limousines from local vendors, peruse a variety of prom-worthy purses, talk to hairstylists and florists, and watch a prom fashion show.

This is the first prom fair put on by Tartan’s SkillsUSA group, a career preparation program. The goal is to raise money to cover the costs related to the group’s trip to state competition in March.

“We’re giving it our all, and if it goes well we’re going to continue it next fall,” said student Taylor Jabs.
