Five Things You Should Know Today: May 24

Go to Oakdale's Dunn Bros Coffee tonight at 7 p.m. for an event to support victims of domestic violence.

1. Did thunder keep you up last night? Get used to it. Thunderstorms and rain are expected today, according the National Weather Service.

2. A collaboration of Twin Cities artists and musicians raising awareness and money to support victims of domestic violence will get together tonight at Oakdale's  .

3. On this day in 1883, New York's Brooklyn Bridge opened. For the first time in history, the bridge connected New York City and Brooklyn. But the construction of the bridge didn't come without a cost. It took 14 years to construct and 27 people died while building it.
