Kids Planner: Bubbles, Rainbows, Snakes and More

Bubbles, sea shanties and snakes ... oh my! There are lots of fun family activities going on around town in the next week.

Snakes Alive 

• When/Where: Wednesday, June 15 from 10 – 11:15 a.m. at the Maplewood Nature Center.
• Why Go: Meet both live and stuffed snakes and learn about these reptiles.
• Geared Toward: Kids of all ages.
• Price: Free (call to pre-register).

 National Get Outdoors Day

• When/Where: Saturday, June 11, starting at 9 a.m. at the Maplewood Community Center and Gateway Trail.
• Why Go: Check out the Gateway Trail, take part in a scavenger hunt and stay for some water fun at the Maplewood Community Center.
• Geared Toward: The whole family.
• Price: Free!

 Eddies on the River

• When/Where: Friday, June 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Dodge Nature Center.
• Why Go: If your kids would get a kick out of sea shanties, this is the concert for you!  Enjoy a night of music under the stars.
• Geared Toward: Preschoolers and older.
• Price: Free.

 Mr. Bubble’s 50^th Birthday Party

• When/Where: Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Water Park of America.
• Why Go: Check out the 20 foot bathtub and play in almost 3,000 square feet of bubbles. Plus try out your skills at building a bubble beard.
• Geared Toward: The whole family.
• Price: From $19.95 per person.

Plan Ahead: What Makes a Rainbow?

• When/Where: Friday, June 17 at the .
• Why Go: Learn all about rainbows and how they are made.
• Geared Toward: 3- to 10-year olds. (9-10:30 a.m. for ages 3-6 and 11 a.m. -12:30 p.m. for ages 7-10)
• Price: $7 per participant.
• Registration: Register by June 10.
