Kids Planner: Enjoy Music and Theater as a Family

There are a variety of cultural events coming up that are great for kids.

This week is all about music and the theater!

Click, Clap and Clunk  

  • When/Where: Saturday, April 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the .
  • Why Go: This concert by the Minnesota Percussion Trio will inspire your kids to go home and raid dad’s garage to make their own musical instruments. 
  • Geared Toward: The whole family.
  • Price: Free.

Paul Bunyan and Other Minne-Tales

  • When/Where: Sunday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at the Woodbury Library.
  • Why Go: You have to recognize the genius of being able to create a musical that includes songs about ice fishing and mosquitoes.
  • Geared Toward: Everyone who enjoys a good Minnesota joke.
  • Price: Free.

Pied Piper – The Musical!

  • When/Where: Friday-Sunday, April 1-3 (various showtimes) at Maplewood Performing Arts Theatre inside the Maplewood Community Center.
  • Why Go:  Put on by nonprofit Ashland Productions, this musical is performed several weekends this spring but the April 1-3 shows feature Oakdale residents.
  • Geared Toward: School age and older.
  • Price: $10 per person. 

 

Asian-Pacific Heritage Day

  • When/Where: Sunday, April 3 from 12-4 p.m. at the Minnesota History Center.
  • Why Go:  With the news showcasing the tragic stories from the earthquakes in the Far East lately, this is a nice opportunity to celebrate the beautiful cultures that make up this region of the world.  Dancing, music and food will put you in touch with Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese and Hmong cultures among many others.
  • Geared Toward: The whole family.
  • Price: $5-10 per person.

 

 Shrine Circus

  • When/Where: March 31-April 3 at the Minnesota State Fair Coliseum.
  • Why Go: Everybody loves when the circus comes to town right?
  • Geared Toward: The whole family but will probably be the most fun for the younger set.
  • Price: $15-28 per person.
