Kids Planner: New Orleans Jazz, Free Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides

Looking for fun things to do with your family during the summer months? Here are some activities in and around Oakdale that kids and adults alike will enjoy:

Dirty Shorts Band

• When/Where: Wednesday, July 13 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the Bandshell.
• Why Go: Hear some New Orleans jazz in Minnesota—wanna bet there will be a rousing rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In?"
• Geared Toward: The whole family.
• Price: Free.

St. Paul Farmer’s Market

• When/Where: Saturday and Sunday mornings in downtown St. Paul.
• Why Go: Spend the morning picking up some fresh veggies, homemade baked goods or plants for the garden.  Make sure you take the kids on a free horse-drawn wagon ride too!
• Geared Towards: The whole family, but it is usually crowded so leave the double stroller at home.
• Price: Free but bring cash for purchases.

 Battle Creek Splash Pool

• When/Where: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily at Battle Creek Regional Park off of Upper Afton.
• Why Go: If you need a change of scenery from your favorite beach check out this waterpark. Features include a three-story waterslide and a shallow area with play equipment.
• Geared Toward: The whole family.
• Price: $6.50 per person.

The Emperor’s New Clothes

• When/Where: Now through July 31 at the Steppingstone Theatre in downtown St. Paul.
• Why Go: This youth theater is especially geared toward children. This classic story is turned into a musical version.
• Geared Toward: Preschool and elementary age children.
• Price: $10-14 per person.

Plan Ahead: Turtle Tales

When/Where: Saturday, July 16^th from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Maplewood Nature Center.

Why Go: Here’s your chance to see turtles in their natural habitats and get up close and personal.

Geared Towards: Children 3 and older.

Price: $3 per child. (Register by July 14)
