Kids Planner: Time to Get Active Around Oakdale

Help kids satisfy their need to run and play.

When the weather gets nice, kids start getting antsy. Here are some ways to help your kids work off their extra energy.

Preschool Gymboree

  • When/Where: Thursday, April 14, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Maplewood Community Center.
  • Why Go: If the playground is still a bit soggy, this is a great alternative.
  • Geared Toward:  1- to 5-year-olds.
  • Price: $4 per child.

 Flashlight Egg Hunt  

  • When/Where: Friday, April 15, at 8:30 p.m. at in Woodbury
  • Why Go: It’s a twist on the old fashioned egg hunt that’s sure to be a hit with older kids.  (Little ones can take part in a traditional egg hunt at 6 p.m.)
  • Geared Toward: 6- to 13-year-olds.
  • Price: $5 per child at the event, $3 per child if you preregister.

 Rock Climbing

  •  When/Where: Various hours (opens at 10 a.m.) at Vertical Endeavors in St. Paul.
  • Why Go:  If your kids have always wanted to rock climb but you aren’t quite ready to turn them loose at Taylor’s Falls, here’s a chance to let them try it out in a safe environment with plenty of guidance
  • Geared Toward: Best for middle school and up as long as they aren’t afraid of heights.
  • Price:  $13-15 per person plus equipment rental.

 

Plan Ahead: GPS Oakdale  

  • When/Where: Saturday, April 30, from 11-2 at the Oakdale Discovery Center.
  • Why Go: Get a group together and explore Oakdale using your GPS.  Think of it as a city wide treasure hunt!
  • Geared Toward: The whole family.
  • Price: $20 per team.
  • Registration: Register by April 22.

 

Plan Ahead: Daddy Daughter Dance

  • When/Where: Friday, April 29, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Maplewood Community Center
  • Why Go: There’s no better way for daddy to spend some quality time with his little girl!
  • Geared Toward:  Girls 5 to 12 years old and their dads.
  • Price: $25 per couple.
