Kids Storm the Tartan Football Field

Oakdale Athletic Association football players scrimmaged on the Tartan field Wednesday night.

Kindergarten through middle school-aged kids who play football in the Oakdale Athletic Association (OAA) took to the field Wednesday night for a group photo with the Tartan football team and lots of scrimmages.

The younger kids had a boisterous audience as Tartan players watched their games from the stands before taking the field for a scrimmage of their own.

OAA President Steve Adamsky said the event helps make the association a better feeder program for Tartan’s football program by connecting players with the school at a young age. It’s a special experience for the kids, he said, to play on the big field and come in contact with the high school coaches and older players.

“They’ll remember this for 10 years,” he said.

This is the second year of the OAA/Tartan event. It’s organized by Oakdale Athletic Association Football Director Joe Schara and Tartan High School football coach Tim Murtha.
