Oakdale Begins Indoor Market in Time for Holiday Shopping

Oakdale's Indoor Market will begin earlier than usual this year.

Oakdale is kicking off its second Indoor Market in time for some Christmas shopping.

This year will feature more than 30 vendors at the Oakdale Discovery Center — up from last year's 20 participants.

Approximately 80 percent of the vendors sell food items — including meats, baked goods, breads, syrups, jams and jellies, honey butter, candies, spices, salsas and strudels — while the rest sell jewelry, wooden toys, children's books and vintage home items, said Mike Anderson, the city's recreation coordinator.

"It was enough of a success last year to have it again this year," Anderson siad. "The residents love the building and the vendors can't get over how great the venue is."

Last year the Indoor Market began in January, but Anderson said they decided to start the market earlier for holiday shopping.
