Oakdale Crime Alert: Garage Tampering, Stolen Vehicles Left Behind
Garage tampering has been reported at both multifamily and single-family homes.
Oakdale Police are warning residents to be alert of suspicious activity after getting a number of reports of garage tampering at multifamily and single-family housing north of 40th Street and near 10th Street in Oakdale.
At the multifamily housing properties, police have recovered stolen vehicles from empty garage stall units, according to the crime alert issued Monday morning.
At both single-family and multifamily homes, residents have reported individuals checking for unsecure doors and tampering with the contents of garages, the crime alert says.

“It is important that residents take these precautions: Be alert to suspicious activity, consider exterior lighting, secure garage doors and service doors,” the alert says. “Remove valuable items from your vehicle including the remote electronic garage door opener and keys from your vehicle when parked (inside or out). It is very important that residents dial “911” and call police immediately if they feel a situation or circumstance is suspicious!”
