Oakdale Patch Whiz Kids: Tartan Business Professionals of America Chapter
Tartan High School BPA members took home a first-place trophy at state and had 11 members qualify for nationals.

Oakdale Patch Whiz Kids of the Week: The Tartan High School Business Professionals of America members.
Accomplishment: The team brought back multiple awards and had 11 members qualify for the national conference in May.
Key to Awesomeness: Tartan High School’s Business Professionals of America team placed in multiple categories at the Spring Leadership Conference March 10-12, and while their work brought them trophies and medals, it also brought benefits to the greater community. The chapter won the Special Olympics Award for raising the most money for the organization. All of the Tartan members also earned the Torch Award, by completing activities in each of the following categories: leadership, service, cooperation, knowledge, friendship, love, hope, faith and patriotism. Among the group's award-winners were: the video production team of Tab Her, Peter Vue, Nick Schaffer and Neng Vang, who took first place in the state for their five-minute video on texting while driving; Lafu Yang, who placed sixth in Web design; Padee Kong, who placed seventh in prepared speech; Brittany Wheelock, who placed seventh in advanced interview; the administrative support team of Mee Yang, Melissa Xong, Jordan Thor and Laura Xiong, which placed seventh; Gabby Patterson, who made the top 20 in graphic design; Gaonou Xiong, who was in the top 20 for presentation management; and Sarah Yang, who was also in the top 20 for advanced accounting.
