Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. At their meeting on Thursday, June 7, the <a href="http://www.ci.oakdale.mn.us/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&amp;SEC=%7BF787D352-A6B6-409A-A739-B7EE8848AB85%7D" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Oakdale Planning Commission </a>will review the variance and site plans for a new Caribou Coffee shop. If all goes according to plan, Caribou Coffee will build their new shop at the former Kwik Stop gas station located at the intersection of Century Avenue and Highway 36. According to Planning Commission documents, the coffee shop would be 1,706 square feet with a drive through lane and window. The empty gas station and all that goes with it would be removed to allow for the new construction. Don Wozniak and Paul Maenner of <a href="http://www.mwdevelopmentllc.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">MW Development</a> will be present at the meeting to review their site plan with commission members and answer questions. During their presentation, parking issues and coffee shop access will be addressed. Caribou Coffee wants to include 13 parking stalls for its customers, which exceeds city ordinance requirements by four stalls, according to Planning Commission documents. If the Planning Commission approves Caribou Coffee's request, members will make a motion to recommend approval of the site plan, including the eight foot variance to the southern parking lot.
