Oakdale Police Blotter: Apartment Burglarized While Resident was out Shopping

In other reports, a purse and GPS device were reported stolen from vehicles in two separate incidents.

A resident who went to the grocery store between 9:15 and 9:45 a.m. Monday, April 25, reported she returned home to find items missing from her apartment, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Her $500 laptop and camera cords and equipment worth $50 were reported stolen from her apartment, located in the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue, the report says.

The woman told police she was sure she had locked her door, but there was no sign of forced entry into the apartment, according to the report.

  • Police stopped a 16-year-old driver for speeding in the 6600 block of 10th Street and found the driver and another teen were truant from . The driver’s mother was notified, as was the school.
  • A car parked in the 4000 block of Geneva Avenue was keyed for 4 inches on the hood between 6 and 7 p.m.
  • While Woodbury police were interviewing someone in the 1400 block of Greenway Avenue, they requested the help of Oakdale police due to several cars of people arriving. While police were there, a complainant turned over a marriage license, three wedding photo DVDs and a credit card he had found in a trashcan after an argument between the complainant’s nephew and girlfriend. Police returned the items to the owner, who said they should have arrived through the mail between Dec. 19 and Dec. 25, 2010.

 April 26:

  • A GPS device and mount worth $218 were stolen between 2 p.m. April 22 and 6:45 p.m. April 24 from a vehicle parked in the 8000 block of Ninth Street Way.
  • A brown leather purse containing a cell phone, checkbook, driver’s license and $150 cash were stolen between 5:15 and 6:25 p.m. from a vehicle parked at LA Fitness. The driver’s side window of the car was smashed out. The total value of the items stolen was $634 and property damage estimate was $250.
  • An 84-year-old resident in the 1100 block of Hadley Avenue reported getting a phone call from a man claiming to be her grandson. She knew the phone call was fraudulent and hung up before any requests could be made.
  • An employee at the gas station at 10th Street and Geneva Avenue reported that four fraudulent checks totaling $1,590 had been written out to the store.
  • The driver of a Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office squad car rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped on northbound Hadley Avenue waiting to make a right turn onto eastbound Highway 36. There was no damage to the squad car and light damage to the rear bumper of the other car.
