Oakdale Police Blotter: Burglar Entered Home Through Window

In other reports, a man got into a fight with his daughter's boyfriend, and another man was cited for domestic assault.

A home in the 6300 block of 15th Street was burglarized between Jan. 5 and 9, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Someone pried open a glass window on the side door of the home to get in, according to the report. They stole a 42-inch TV worth $550 and a jewelry box containing coins such as silver dollars and buffalo nickels, the report says.

It appeared that someone had gone through the entire home, according to the report.

The following incidents were also reported to Oakdale police on Jan. 9:

  • A 16-year-old youth from St. Paul was given a trespass notice from due to an assault in the back lot of the school on Jan. 6 that he was involved with.
  • A 30-year-old Oakdale woman reported that her child’s father punched her in the eye once and the head two more times. She had a severely swollen right eye. The man was no longer at the home when police arrived, however, they cited him for domestic assault and attempted to locate him.
  • A resident in the 500 block of Greenway Avenue reported that someone smeared ketchup on the mailboxes in front of his home.
  • A 21-year-old St. Paul man struck his girlfriend’s father with a tire iron after the dad—a 42-year-old Oakdale resident—shot him with a pellet gun in the 6400 block of 55th Street. The father said he was trying to protect his daughter from her boyfriend, with whom she'd been arguing. The father had visible injuries. Both men requested no criminal charges.
  • A resident at a group home in the 6200 block of 24th Street used a fire extinguisher to break into the office. The resident was calm when police arrived, and agreed to go to her room for the night.
