Oakdale Police Blotter: Craigslist Sale Leads to Disturbance

An argument over a vehicle for sale through Craigslist caused a disturbance in the 1700 block of Helena Road around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.
An Oakdale resident was going to sell the vehicle to a 43-year-old Des Moines, Iowa, man, but when he didn’t show up by 4 p.m., the resident sold the vehicle to a St. Louis Park resident instead, the report says. When the Des Moines man did show up, he blocked the vehicle and refused to leave, according to the report.
Police were able to get the man to leave, and the other man was able to retrieve the vehicle, the report says.

- Overnight between Oct. 9 and Oct. 10, someone spray painted a star with a circle around it on a mailbox in the 4300 block of Grafton Avenue and also placed traffic cones with obscenities written on them in front of the driveways in the cul-de-sac.
- Someone spray painted obscenities on playground equipment at , causing $500 in damage. Similar graffiti was found on the east side windows, glass doors and playground equipment at , causing $50 damage.
- On routine patrol officers spotted graffiti on the east side of the building at the former par three golf course at 5585 Golfview Avenue. Multiple colors of spray paint were used across an entire area of siding, causing more than $1,000 damage. An unsecured window was used to gain access into the building.
- A $150 cell phone was stolen from an unsecured backpack in the girls locker room at between 12:45 and 2:45 p.m. Sept. 30.
Oct. 11:
- A wallet containing $200 cash, financial cards and a driver’s license was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 2300 block of Grange Avenue between 7 p.m. Oct. 10 and 6 a.m. the next day.
- Loss prevention at reported that a day earlier a man walked out of the store without paying for a $308 Xbox Kinect console.
- A woman said she was assaulted in a hallway in an apartment building in the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue by a man and woman. She had a swollen lip and bruised forehead.
- An $80 cell phone was stolen from a classroom at between 10:17 and 11:12 a.m.
- A 35-year-old Oakdale woman was arrested in the 1100 block of Hadley Avenue after a routine registration check revealed the owner’s driver’s license status to be suspended and that the owner had a misdemeanor warrant for a city ordinance violation.
- A resident in the 1400 block of Goodwin Avenue reported that a man who had been staying at the residence was intoxicated and caused $789 worth of property damage to the home. He reportedly damaged a glass coffee table, pottery bowl, decorations, punched a hole in the wall and broke a blind.
- A $25 iPod radio adapter was stolen from a vehicle parked in the $1,400 block of Goodwin Avenue between 9:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 7:15 a.m. the next day.
Oct 12:
- A newspaper delivery person reported seeing a naked man walking in his driveway in the 6300 block of 11th Street. The man answered the door in his underwear and said he had taken his dog outside in his underwear.
Oct. 13:
- A number of car break-ins were reported in the early morning hours including: $5 in quarters were stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 5400 block of Golfview Circle, a $300 GPS device and $200 iPod Touch were stolen from a car parked in a driveway in the 2700 block of Granite Avenue, loose change was stolen from an unlocked car in the 2600 block of Granite Avenue, an unlocked car was rummaged through in the 2600 block of Granite Avenue, seven CDs were stolen from an unlocked car in the 2600 block of Granite Avenue, $4 in loose chance was stolen from an unlocked car in the 2600 block of Granite Avenue and five to six CDs, sunglasses and change were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 2600 block of Granite Avenue. Two men and a juvenile were arrested in connection with the thefts. Also connected to these incidents—a chainsaw and plastic food tote were stolen from a garage in the 5400 block of Golfview Circle and later recovered in the car of the arrestees.
- Someone broke the driver’s side window of a vehicle parked at and stole a purse containing an iPhone and cash with a total value of $800. The property damage estimate is $300.
