Oakdale Police Blotter: High-Buck Items Stolen from Two Cars

Jewelry and a designer purse were reported stolen from vehicles.

Two instances of high-dollar items being stolen from vehicles were reported to the Oakdale Police Department recently.

On Feb. 20, a resident in the 5400 block of Golfview Avenue reported that someone broke the rear passenger side window on their vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of the residence, and stole a $2,500 diamond ring, a $1,000 tennis bracelet and $500 cash out of the glove compartment. The property damage estimate was $200.

On Feb. 25, a Woodbury resident reported someone smashed the left, rear window of her car and stole $1,828 worth of items while it was parked at between 5:25 and 6:40 p.m. Stolen items included a $1,495 black Gucci purse, $40 black leather gloves, a $40 black leather Coach coin purse, a $160 black leather Coach wallet containing $90 in cash, a debit card, checkbook, driver’s license and Minnesota EBT card. The value of the property damage was $350.

Following are other incidents that were reported Feb. 18-27:

 Feb. 18:

  • A  resident in the 800 block of Henslow Avenue reported that an opossum was stuck in their riding lawn mower. Police could not remove the opossum from the mower, so they moved the mower outside of the garage and shut the garage door.

 Feb. 19:

  • The extinguished a fire around 2:45 p.m. at a home in the 7400 block of Hudson Boulevard.  The fire destroyed the northwest bedroom in the house. The cause of the fire is unknown.
  • Between Sunday, Feb. 13, and Thursday, Feb. 17, someone stole a $2,500 enclosed trailer from the side of the garage at a residence in the 7300 block of 31st Street.
  • A complainant reported that after transporting a woman from the SuperAmerica at 10th Street and Geneva Avenue to a Maplewood hotel she realized her wallet had been stolen. The wallet contained $20, a debit card, a driver’s license and her daughter’s Social Security card.

 Feb. 20:

  • Between 1:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 4:15 p.m Feb. 20, someone broke the glass on the side door of a residence in the 6100 block of 49th Street and stole tools, a drill and a case with a total value of $450.

 Feb. 22:

  • A resident in the 7600 block of 15th Street reported that an attempted break-in occurred between Feb. 18 and Feb. 22. Something had been forced into the dead bolt  keyhole on his front door. The door had been forced, but not opened. The door frame and molding were damaged. The damage estimate was $300.
  • A resident in the 7500 block of Fifth Street reported an ongoing problem with her neighbor. The neighbor has loud parties and music. The neighbor’s dog also defecates on her driveway, and the neighbor refuses to clean it up.
  • A resident in the 6000 block of Upper 51st Street reported moving her elderly mother’s vehicle into a parking lot at the residence at 1 a.m., and finding it had been stolen at 8 a.m.
  • Between 4:30 p.m. Feb. 18 and 6 a.m. Feb. 21, someone forced entry into a locked trailer at a construction site at Granada Avenue and Highway 5 and stole multiple items.

 Feb. 23:

  • An Oakdale resident reported that someone obtained her debit card number and fraudulently used her account to make three purchases totaling $63.05.
  • Police stopped a vehicle at 50th Street and Hadley Avenue for having a broken taillight and ended up arresting the driver, an 18-year-old Oakdale man, for having no insurance and violating a domestic abuse no contact order.

 Feb. 24:

  • An Oakdale resident reported that someone fraudulently used her Visa check card number to make two $74.99 transactions. She was in possession of the card.

 Feb. 26:

  • A resident in the 7600 block of Stillwater Way reported that he saw two people drive up to his mailbox and take his outgoing mail. Three checks were in the stolen mail. The resident cancelled the checking account.
  • A resident in the 6800 block of Eighth Street reported that someone spray-painted derogatory words on her vehicle between 10 and 12:45 p.m. Feb. 25.

 Feb. 27:

  • A resident in the 2500 block of 12th Street reported that her neighbor’s dog defecated in her yard and the neighbor has not picked it up. This was the third complaint of similar behavior in the past month. The resident didn’t want to pursue a citizen’s arrest. No one was home at the neighbor’s house when police were there.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that someone stole his wallet from his back pocket while he was on the patio at Duke’s. The wallet contained his Arizona ID, military ID, debit card and credit card. The theft occurred between 11 p.m. Feb. 26 and 1 a.m. Feb. 27.

The above items are taken from the Oakdale Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
