Oakdale Police Blotter: Juveniles Allegedly Damage Property for Early Morning Pool Access

In other reports, a man was arrested for allegedly punching his son and two bicycles were stolen.

In an attempt to get into the Granada Lakes Townhomes pool area in the early morning hours Sunday, Aug. 21, two allegedly juveniles caused $2,950 worth of damage to the gate and support posts, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

The gate was knocked off the hinges and the posts and footings were loose, according to the report.

The following incidents were also reported to Oakdale police Aug. 22-24:

Aug. 22:

  • A stray golf ball broke out a basement window of a home in the 600 block of Heron Avenue. No golfer has come forward to admit to breaking the window.
  • Someone entered an unlocked garage in the 400 block of Geneva Avenue and stole a GPS device and stereo worth a total of about $500 from a vehicle parked inside between 7 p.m. Aug. 21 and 3:30 p.m. the next day.
  • A driver pumped $50 worth of gas into his car at the Holiday gas station on Hadley Avenue and Highway 5 and drove off without paying for it.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that his license plate tabs, which were sitting on his kitchen counter, were stolen and that he suspected a family member. The Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that the family member had new tabs on his vehicle. The value of the theft was $203.50.
  • A resident in the 8000 block of Ninth Street Way reported finding a yellow parakeet in the yard. The resident had a birdcage and was willing to care for the bird temporarily.
  • A 52-year-old Oakdale man was arrested at Geneva Avenue and 12th Street for third-degree DUI. Police stopped him after he failed to signal a right turn and displayed symptoms of being under the influence.

  • Two bicycles with a total value of $500 were reported stolen from a deck in the 6600 block of Gretchen Lane.
  • A 42-year-old Brooklyn Center man was arrested for allegedly strangling and punching his 17-year-old son in the 1200 block of Glenbrook Avenue. The teenager had swelling on the left side of his face, where he said he had been punched.
  • Someone broke the driver’s side window and stole $30 worth of items out of a vehicle parked in a lot in the 6200 block of 12th Street between 10 p.m. Aug. 22 and 5:30 a.m. the next day. The property damage estimate was $189.
  • A 24-year-old Oakdale man reported that two men punched him in a courtyard in the 6200 block of 12th Street. He didn’t know the men. He had some redness in his eyes and had taken pills because he said his eyes hurt. The transported him to the hospital.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that someone smeared cheese on her vehicle, attached flowers to the cheese and then poured a flour-like substance into the vent system. The cleanup cost estimate is $20.
  • While on patrol, an officer saw a driver pass another car in the right shoulder in the 1700 block of Geneva Avenue. The officer found the driver, a 28-year-old Newport woman, had a revoked license and no proof of insurance. The vehicle’s owner later provided proof of insurance.

Aug. 24:

  • Multiple mailboxes in the 5200 block of Heath Avenue, the 4900 block of Heather Ridge Road and the 5300 block of Heath Avenue, were reportedly damaged.
  • A woman reported that she was rear-ended in the 7100 block of 10th Street. After initially stopping at the scene she and the man who rear-ended her agreed to meet in the parking lot, however, the man who hit her did not show up in the parking lot. The complainant’s vehicle had minor damage to its rear bumper.
