Oakdale Police Blotter: Man Allegedly Commits Assault, Steals Car, Has Hit-and-Run Crash

Shortly after the car was reported stolen, St. Paul Police contacted Oakdale to report it was in a hit-and-run collision.

A 26-year-old Minneapolis man allegedly choked a woman in the 800 block of Glenbrook Avenue, stole her car and then became involved in a hit-and-run accident on Feb. 9, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Police were called to the home for a report of domestic assault at 10:40 a.m., the report says. Officers observed visible injuries to the woman's neck, according to the report.

Police reported the car stolen, and then at 11:16 a.m. got a report from the St. Paul Police Department that the vehicle had been involved in a hit-and-run accident.

The vehicle was later recovered unoccupied at and towed, the report says.

 Feb. 9:

  • A resident in the 7100 block of 17th Street reported that on trash day a neighbor was putting their trash cans in front of the mailboxes and leaving them there, causing the mail not to be delivered.
  • Police responded around 1:15 p.m. to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at Hadley Avenue and Highway 36. A 46-year-old male was transported to Regions Hospital.
  • Police responded to a fire call at , and found that a fire suppression pipe in the southeast entry had frozen and broken. The Oakdale Fire Department shut off the water.
  • Police arrested Donald L. Habeck, 44, of Maplewood, on two warrants out of Scott County for driving after suspension in the 2000 block of Geneva Avenue.
  • Police stopped a man for having a broken tail light in the 1000 block of Geneva Avenue and found that he had a revoked driver’s license and a Washington County warrant out for his arrest for driving after revocation. The man, Charles S. Dawson, 31, of Oakdale, also told police he had marijuana in his shoe, which weighed about 2 grams.
  • Police cited a 38-year-old Maplewood man for driving after suspension after a traffic stop in the 7700 block of Geneva Avenue.
