Oakdale Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Threatening Cab Driver

In other reports, multiple cars had windows broken out over the weekend.

A 40-year-old man was arrested Sunday for allegedly threatening a Yellow Cab driver.

The driver had dropped off a woman at a residence in the 7000 block of 15th Street who had not paid her fare.

The man then came out of the residence and threatened the cab driver with a tire iron, according to the report. He allegedly held the tire iron above his head, within a few feet of him, and said he would kill him, the report says. The man then dropped the tire iron and fled into the house, the report says.

The man was arrested on charges of first degree aggravated robbery and assault, according to the report.

April 28:

  • Someone smashed out the front passenger window of a car parked in the 1200 block of Gentry Avenue and stole a $200 GPS device. The property damage estimate is $200.
  • Two juvenile females were caught burglarizing the building at a former par 3 golf course on Golfview Avenue. The girls had filled their backpacks with miscellaneous items such as pencils, envelopes and signs.

 April 29:

  • Someone smashed out the driver’s side window of a car in a parking lot in the 1300 block of Gentry Avenue and stole a $501 multimedia station between 10 p.m. April 28 and 5:30 a.m. April 29. The property damage estimate is $200.
  • Between 7:30 p.m. April 28 and 5:55 p.m. April 29 someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 6200 block of 12th Street and stole a CD player and $150 softball bat.
  • A 19-year-old student was cited for giving another student a substance that field-tested positive for marijuana.
  • Three people reported working for a security firm for two months that they have learned is not a real security company. They said a representative from the company would meet them at the Oakdale Burger King parking lot to give them their paychecks, but the checks turned out to be fraudulent. Police are investigating the allegations.
  • A Tartan High School teacher reported that on April 28 a 17-year-old student got upset about being suspended and threw a plastic toy at her, hitting her in the head, and yelled at her. The student was escorted from the building.

 April 30:

  • A 36-year-old man was arrested for attempting to steal $1,359 worth of jewelry from .
  • A large rock was used to break the rear driver’s side window of a car parked in the 2000 block of Helena Road causing $400 damage.
  • Between 9 p.m. April 29 and 1 a.m. April 30 someone forced entry into an apartment in the 6100 block of 40th Street causing $1,100 worth of damage. Nothing was taken.
  • The rear windshield and rear driver’s side windows of a car parked in the 2200 block of Helena Road were broken out causing $600 damage.
  • A resident in the 6800 block of 29th Street reported that the rear window of his pickup truck was smashed out between 10 p.m. April 29 and 2 a.m. April 30 while it was parked on the street in front of the residence causing $400 damage.
  • A complainant in the 4000 block of Geneva Avenue reported to police that she needed directions to get home, and police found she had a warrant.

 May 1:

  • Two cars collided at 10th Street and Hadley Avenue around 3 a.m., causing head and chest injuries to both drivers and severe front-end damage to their vehicles. One car was traveling south on Hadley, and the other driver was traveling west on 10th Street. A 21-year-old St. Paul woman was cited in connection with the collision.
  • Between 7:30 p.m. April 29 and 11:46 a.m. April 30 an unknown person smashed the windows out of a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 7400 block of Upper 24th Street causing $800 damage. A large rock was located in the rear seat of the car.
  • Someone threw a large rock through the back window of a vehicle parked in the 3000 block of Hemingway Avenue, and a small rock at the driver’s side doors causing dents. The estimated damage is more than $1,000.
  • A rock was thrown through the rear windshield of a vehicle parked in the 2900 block of Hemingway Avenue. It smashed the front windshield from the inside, causing about $800 damage.
  • A resident in the 4800 block of Helena Road reported that someone spray painted expletives on his wooden privacy fence during the past two weeks.
  • A resident in the 3700 block of Hamlet Avenue reported that the previous owners of a cat she has owned for two years took the cat for a visit and didn’t return him.
  • A bankcard was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 1000 block of Greystone Avenue.
  • A $350 iPod, $20 cash, $25 prescription drugs, keys to another car, a house key and a $400 key for Anytime Fitness were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 1000 block of Greystone Avenue.
  • Items totaling $100 including a radar detector were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 1100 block of Gresham Avenue.
  • Vandals damaged the porch of a home in the 6900 block of 40th Street. They shattered the thermal pane glass and pulled a wood support post away from the structure causing $200 damage.
