Oakdale Police Blotter: Maybe it's the Gas Prices? Station Hit With Multiple Drive-Offs

A second drive-off occurred at a gas station while police were en route to respond to the first one.

While police were en route to the gas station at 10th Street and Helmo Avenue on a report of a gas drive-off Tuesday, April 5, a second customer drove off without paying, according to an Oakdale Police report.

A complainant at the station reported at about 4:30 p.m. that someone pumped $50 worth of gas into an SUV and drove off, according to a police report.

Once police arrived at about 4:34 p.m. the complainant reported the second drive-off—this time by an unknown vehicle—after someone pumped $65 worth of gas.

The complainant had a license plate number and description of the first vehicle, but not for the second one.

March 31:

  • An Oakdale resident called asking whether he could shoot a coyote after he saw three near his home in the 8400 block of Ninth Street and was worried they might attack his dog. The man was advised that it would be illegal to shoot the coyotes.

 April 4:

  • A resident in the 7500 block of Fifth Street was notified that he has one week to clean up the large amounts of dog fecal matter in his backyard after police got a report about the issue from a neighbor.
  • A complainant reported that a woman at an Oakdale address said on Facebook she was going to kill herself by overdosing. When police found her, she had an empty vodka bottle and an open bottle of Advil. A breath test showed her blood alcohol content at .355. The Oakdale Fire Departent transported her to Regions Hospital.
  • CDs, jackets and inventory scanners with a total value of $6,500 were stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 7000 block of Upper 36th Street between April 2 and April 3.

 April 5:

  • Police received a report of a fire in the 2300 block of Hamlet Avenue. Firefighters found an unattended bonfire that had spread to about 4 to 5 feet in diameter and extinguished it. They made contact with the resident at the site who started the fire, and he said he thought he had put it out about four hours prior to the incident.
  • An Oakdale resident reported finding video on her boyfriend’s computer of her teenage niece getting out of the shower. Police are investigating the incident.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that his debit card was fraudulently used in the Dominican Republic and South Carolina to make $55 worth of charges. The resident had his card, and doesn’t know how someone got the card number.
  • A $150 cell phone was reported stolen after being left unattended in a classroom.
  • Seventy dollars was reported stolen from a Tartan High School locker. There was no forced entry into the locker.
  • A Lake Elmo man was arrested for domestic assault after his wife reported that he poked and punched her in the left eye in an Oakdale location.

April 6:

  • The city placed a speed trailer on eastbound Fourth Street after receiving a complaint that there was excessive speeding on the road near Greystone Avenue.
  • An Oakdale resident walked in to the Oakale Police Department to report that a man who had been asked not to contact her emailed her with a death threat.
  • A complainant reported that someone was feeding a coyote’s baby in the 1000 block of Helmo Avenue. Police did not find a coyote, but did find hot dogs and bread in some of the bushes in the area.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that on April 5 someone used her debit card to make $300 online purchase. She had the card in her possession and doesn’t know how it was compromised.
