Oakdale Police Blotter: Men Allegedly Drove Stolen Car, Had Drugs

In other reports, a school bus driver hit a car, causing moderate damage.

A 28-year-old Oakdale man and 47-year-old North St. Paul man were arrested Tuesday, June 12, after Maplewood police officers allegedly observed them driving in a stolen car and then saw one of them drop a controlled substance on the ground outside , according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

After locating the stolen vehicle at at 10th Street and Geneva Avenue, the Maplewood officer found the men at the bar, according to the report. One of the men admitted to driving the vehicle, and he was arrested, the report says.

Police also arrested the other man after they found a baggie containing 13.3 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for meth on the ground near to him, the report says. The man denied possession of the drugs, according to the report.

Later that morning, someone at SuperAmerica reported finding a bag of clothing and a cooler containing a hypodermic needle, two lock-picking sets, gloves, a mask, a vehicle lockout tool, a scale, two cell phones and a GPS device, according to the police report. The property is related to the incident in which the two men were arrested, the report says.

July 11:

  • On July 10 and 11, someone made $786 worth of unauthorized purchases on an Oakdale woman’s check card.
  • A resident in the 7500 block of 31st Street reported that an unknown truck pulling a trailer struck his mailbox, damaging the wood post that’s cemented into the ground.
  • A blue Pioneer Press paper box was stolen from the corner of Hadley Avenue and Upper Fifth Street. The value of the box is $400, and it had an estimated $20 worth of cash in the box.
  • A 54-year-old Oakdale man was arrested at for allegedly taking four games into the bathroom, wrapping them in foil, and then leaving the store without paying for the games. The total value of the games is $80.
  • An employee at Holiday at Highway 5 and Hadley Avenue reported that someone pumped $92 worth of gas into their vehicle and then drove off without paying.
  • A $100 GPS device was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7000 block of 17th Street.

July 12:

  • Someone lit fire to a dog feces station at , causing $200 damage.
  • A 61-year-old Oakdale man who went to   for Bingo night was upset that all the tables in the restaurant had “reserved” signs on them for customers who had called in reservations. The man wanted to pursue charges against the restaurant management for rudeness. Police advised him that the nature of the incident was civil, not criminal.

July 13:

  • Police stopped an 18-year-old Maplewood driver for having a white light on the rear driver’s side of her vehicle and observed seven cans of unopened beer in the car. Police confiscated the beer and cited her for minor in possession of alcohol.
  • A school bus driver hit a stopped car while making a left turn from eastbound 15th Street onto northbound Granada Avenue. The driver did not allow enough space when making the turn, and struck the car, which was stopped in the left turn lane on Granada Avenue. The car received moderate damage to the front, left side and was towed away from the scene. The school bus received minor damage. No one was injured.
  • A resident in the 400 block of Geneva Avenue reported that on July 2 someone stole two rods and reels out of his boat while parked in his driveway. Then on July 9, someone stole one rod and reel out of the same boat. The total value of the stolen items is $405.
